Poetry and Art at Madison Library May 20

I wanted to share the following calendar item, which is especially noteworthy, since we had a meeting in this “art space” recently and the Guilford Poets are holding a reading inspired by those works of art.

MADISON – The Madison Art Society’s 35th Annual Juried Show runs
through May 28 at the Scranton Memorial Library. The show includes 100
works of art from Connecticut artists and is on display during normal
library hours. A portion of the proceeds from sales will be donated to
Scranton Memorial Library and a scholarship for a talented visual arts
high school student. Eileen Eder was named the winner for her painting
“Midday Sun.” Second prize went to Sara Drought Nebel for her oil
painting, “Daisy Drawing.”

Members of the Guilford Poets Guild, inspired by the show’s artwork,
have written poems that will be hung next to the paintings/sculptures,
and the poems will be read at an evening poetry reception sponsored
jointly by the Guilford Poets Guild and the Madison Art Society. The
reception will be held at the library on May 20, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Refreshments will be served.
